Description
Granofen Wormer for dogs and cats contains Fenbendazole, the trusted multi-wormer which is mild and safe to use on your pet, but lethal to most common species of worm. Roundworms, lungworms and most breeds of tapeworms are killed by Granofen. It is supplied in sachets which contain small, flavourless granules to be added to food. A small amount of a tasty treat will encourage most cats and dogs to take Granofen with ease. Supplied in 1, 2 and 4g sachets to treat animals of different sizes.

Presentation
A 22% granule formulation of fenbendazole as a ready to administer oral anthelmintic for dogs and cats. 1g Granofen Wormer for Dogs and Cats contains 0.22g active ingredient fenbendazole. Sachets of 1, 2 and 4g are available.
Uses
A broad spectrum anthelmintic for the treatment of domestic dogs and cats infected with immature and mature stages of nematodes of the gastro-intestinal and respiratory tracts. Granofen also has an ovicidal effect on nematode eggs.
Adult dogs and cats
For the treatment of adult dogs and cats infected with gastro-intestinal nematodes and cestodes: Ascarid spp (Toxocara canis, Toxocara catis and Toxocara leonina), Ancylostoma spp, Trichuris spp, Uncinaria spp and Taenia spp
Puppies and kittens
For the treatment of weaned puppies and kittens infected with gastro-intestinal nematodes.
Pregnant bitches
For the treatment of pregnant bitches to reduce prenatal infections of Toxocara canis and the transfer of T canis and A caninum to their pups via the milk.
Also for the treatment of dogs infected with lungworm Oslerus (Filaroides) osleri, and cats infected with lungworm Aelurostrongylus abstrusus.
Dosage and administration
Routine treatment of dogs and cats:
Administer 1g Granofen Wormer for Dogs and Cats per 2.2kg(5lb) body weight as a single dose (100mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight).
Practical dosage recommendations:

For dogs weighing over 50kg (110lb) an extra 1g is required for each additional 2.2kg bodyweight.
The dose should be administered by mixing into the feed.
Treatment should be repeated when natural reinfection with parasitic worms occur. Routine treatment of adult animals with minimal exposure to infection is advisable 2 to 4 times per year. More frequent treatment, at 6 to 8 weekly intervals is advisable for dogs in kennels.
Weaned puppies and kittens under six months of age:
Administer 1g Granofen Wormer for Dogs and Cats per 4.4kg (10lb) bodyweight daily for 3 consecutive days mixed into the feed (50mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily for 3 days).

For dogs/puppies weighing over 22kg (50lb), an extra 1g is required daily for each additional 4.4kg (10lb) bodyweight.
Puppies should be treated at 2 weeks of age, 5weeks of age and again before leaving the breeder’s premises.
Treatment may also be required at 8 and 12 weeks of age. Thereafter, frequency of treatment can be reduced unless the pups remain in kennels where reinfestation occurs more readily.
Pregnant bitches: 1g Granofen Wormer for Dogs and Cats per 8.8kg (20lb) bodyweight daily from day 40 of pregnancy continuously to 2 days post-whelping (approximately 25 days) (25mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily).

Increasing dosing for specific infections: For the control of lungworm Oslerus (Filaroides) osleri in dogs administer 1g Granofen Wormer for Dogs and Cats per 4.4kg (10lb) bodyweight daily for 7 consecutive days (50mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily for 7 days).
A repeat course of treatment may be required in some cases.
For the control of lungworm Aelurostrongylus abstrusus in cats administer 0.4g Granofen Wormer for Dogs and Cats per 4.4kg (10lb) bodyweight daily for 5 consecutive days (20mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight for 5 days).
For the treatment of clinical worm infestations in dogs and cats administer 1g Granofen Wormer for Dogs and Cats per 4.4kg (10lb) bodyweight daily for 3 consecutive days (50mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily for 3 days).
Contra-indications, warnings, etc
Operator warnings
Direct contact with the skin should be kept to a minimum. Avoid inhalation of dust. Wash hands after use.
Environmental warnings
Dispose of used containers and sachets safely.

Not to be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient
Keep out of the reach of children. Assess bodyweight as accurately as possible before calculating the dosage.
